Types of Trustees

The Pensions Act (1995) requires that an Independent Trustee be appointed when a company sponsoring a pension scheme goes into receivership.

Sole and Independent Trustees will often be concerned with implementing a wind up to ensure that the wind up:

n	Will be thorough with the membership and benefits fully researched and confirmed.

n	Compliant with the scheme Trust Deed / Rules and current legislation.

n	Carried out with minimum delay.

n	Complete to allow the Trustees to be confident that they have been fully discharged of their responsibilities

A Trustee on Board can be appointed, whether or not a scheme is in wind up, and will bring additional independent expertise and experience to the existing Trustees.
